Perhaps we should have a "If you like ....., try...." thread but that means we need to taste the BH. Had thought that in the new year I'd sift through all those leading, high-vol brands, so that I'm giving them a fair chance.

Blossom Hill, Mulled Wine, Buckfast, UmBongo, Porridge.

I think Mulled wine, umbongo and porridge have all been unfairly classified there !


Am a bit in agreement with Dunc about omitting BH, EJ etc from the offers list.
Anyone who wants to drink it will go and pick it up from the shelf without a thought anyway - especially when the big yellow price label reads "3 for £10" etc...

tbf, I also would like to think that anyone with an interest in looking for wine offers that visits this site will have half an ounce of taste (Ba excluded of course :p jowk) and would be looking out for something other than the perennially discounted BH & Co

Confected gunk can be pulled off the shelf at the filling station. I don't see filling station folks flocking here for tasting notes

I cant remember the last time the soft & fruity liquid passed my lips, 5 years? 10?

We should put our prejudices to one side and organise an online tasting.

I had a glass of Beringer sparkling white zinfandel. If anything it was sweeter than Blossom Hill's still version.

How is it that one of the world's most alcoholic and full bodied red wines has such a sweet and sickly pink sister. Can't the yanks make a drier version.

In Bordeaux they make quite serious rose from Merlot so why not some dry pink zin.

Not that I actually want pink zin...I just don't get why the Americans need to make a wine equivalent of candyfloss.

Down the pub the other day I experimented with Bonterra's Chard-SB blend.

My god, never in my life have I tasted anything so bad...well at least not wine related. Twas foul.

fair point, think it was had been opened a while. couldn't be bothered to ask for a new one tho - done it before there and it is nore down to the shite wine they stock.
Had a horrid shiraz there in the past too

Grant Burge Benchmmark they do aint that bad in comparison

Moved over to beer instead
