Mate at Tesco just brought 6 bottles being sold off for £5.99 as a bin end down from £12.64.

This was Bob's note. I hope the flavour is holding up.

Essence of Awatere Sauvignon Blanc with tomato leaf, green capsicum and bramble-like flavours. Intense, powerful wine that gives a nod in the direction of Sancerre.
94/100

The removal of this wine now means that my Tesco will have removed all of it's £10+ sb's. Only the 'Finest' Sancerre and PF are left and most other grapes have also been reduced to the 'Finest' and cheapies. The only £10+ chard left is a Brocard Chablis.

I'll be getting that for 50p next week.

My local Lidl is starting to look classy.

Beautiful wine. Like a cross between Clifford Bay and Tawhiri. Just falls short of Clifford Bay although the flavour is almost identical. Tomato leaf and brambles is Bob's description and that's spot on. Clifford Bay just had a longer finish so it has the edge.

This is also similar to Tawhiri because Tawhiri has the same basic flavours. Tawhiri though is also very tart. This is not at all tart and it carries it's 14% alc well.

Lovely wine but not the daddy.

You're rubbing it in more.
There is none in the big Tesco, don't like their service feel anyway - I shall check little Henley.

Those blighters would have cleared it - Henley folks aren't stupid.

This is the new benchmark for 07 MSB. JE is still a wonderful wine but not this good.

Dunc please find excuse to open one of your Clifford Bay 08 to compare with JE 07.

I would be fascinated to see how you rate them side by side.

I definitely will, closer to Noel though. Are you asking me to blow my short stocks of these wines, with a pair at once  Sir, you're raising the bar with Taylor's Pass, in your unique situation, your buying price was /is not sustainable.

I fully appreciate your point, and therefore propose we establish -
Sub £10 benchmark
Post £10 benchmark

You notice my loyalty to the former

I prefer Tawny. Less directly hangover causing.
