I tasted twice in Store and didn't detect Kwickfit, the mix was confusing. I bought 4, all were drunk outside in warm August. 2 at our barbeque and 2 others around at my cousins in the garden with another Barby.

I cant remember if burnt rubber or not. The wine had a smokey and fruity note indoors. Shezza, I have not drunk this at dinner or at home on my own. So not scrutinised . Was it the cab & merlot dominated 2006 with a twist ? It was full and very easy and undry.

Some Rhones can have a rubbery whiff, as for the pinotage, I drunk some mature stuff decades ago on the SA CWV label, probably long gone now. Pinnotage, not one of my faves as a monopole at all, but the Klien Constantia version was interesting and more sweety / pinot-noir like. Many people say when young that they detect barbeque marshmellows on young pinotage. Others say that Pinotage can be detected in the mix, even if very small %.

V. Sorry that your £3.99 went AWAL. Pinotage is def not your bag - Glad that you didn't spend more to find out - Eh !

For 3.79 I don't mind. Worth a gamble

I did try a bottle of this some weeks back when the thread started and didn't mind it. This time round I really didn't enjoy it at all

The other bottle I think will be given to my Pinotage loving friend....

Shezza, I think we need to go back to base camp.

The Dragon Tree was £3.99 on offer } lots of different vintages 2005/06/07
The Longitude was £3.79 on offer }

The amounts of Pinotage varried between 32.5% for Longitude 2005 to 1% for 2006. The mix was all over the place.

The Dragon I bought had higher proportions of Cab and Shiraz

I enjoyed the wines with almost no Pinotage in them. Yes, lets get this sorted in my mind - V. young Pinotage has a pink bubblegum note sometimes.

Shezza - please say exactly which one you said.... "I quess that's a No then"

Interesting stuff. Knew it was a multi-blend but not that it changed with the vintage. Mine was '06 and I couldn't even finish a glass. 'Orrid 'twere.

twas the Dragon Tree and believe it was the 2006 vvintage. surprised only 1% pinotage in there coz I sure as hell wasn't getting predominant Cab & shiraz.

Just tasted funny...

Yeah Shezz - We quit cos Base Camp has moved.

I was drinking the '05 available on 1st August, when just in.

If you look around the web, many writers seem to have piggy backed on our flagstones ! When writing a month later - However Jancis did an early bird on these wines.

see link to many flagstone wines:
http://www.ewine.co.za/southafricanwine ... =Flagstone The Dragon Tree 2005.

Flagstone gets one more hit
