Supposedly the Clare Valley's top dog and 2006 was a ' great vintage ' apparantly.

In a blind tasting I doubt if I could tell this apart from a mass produced Wolf Blass riesling.

Nothing wrong with it but nothing special. Lime....splash of petrol....yawn.

That was the 2005. I have had the 2006 before and it was lovely. Lime and honey. Mel thought the same. Almost three years on though and it's less impressive. The honey has gone.

This wine is supposed to age for ten years so maybe it's just going through a quiet phase.

G ~ no idea what a quiet phase is and just trying to sound intelligent ~

Interesting - i've got 3 bottles of the 2004 riesling stored away. I drank a bottle 2 or 3 years ago and thought it was superb - a definite cut above the other, similarly-priced, Australians. I'm not keen on that razor-edge lime juice thing that the Leasingham has.

I also have a couple of bottles of the 2003 semillon - bought them from Tesco after trying some at a Wine Society tasting and being stunned by it (as was a friend). A bottle of same vintage from Tesco though was just very ordinary - I'm hoping the remaining bottles will acquire some character with age.
