At bleedin' last !

A perfect Sancerre for under a tenner.

Bone dry, crisp, perfect acidity, nutty smell and restrained citrus and mineral taste.

Classic !

Sorry it's the food hall of a Cardiff department store and not something more national....but that can't be helped..

My local Sainsbury have just starting stocking the Alphonse Mellot Le Moussiere Sancerre 2006 for £14. A.Mellot is arguably Sancerre's top producer.

The only Sancerre producers to get 2 stars in Oz Clarke's A-Z of wine are Mellot and Henri Bourgeois

Have you tried this, Mel ?

Sancerre La Moussiere 2006, Alphonse Mellot Sainsbury FW13.99
Not elder, or asparagus, but almost pineapple. Nice, but not what we expect or, particularly, want. Sweeter taste than expected. Full-bodied and not steely.
