Staggering wine.

Lush ( light body low acidity golden hue pungent flavour ), pungent lime and petrol but without the acidic sharpness that makes so many youthful Oz Rieslings hard work.

Ah there IS life. First post in a week !!

£3 ??? One of my big CoOps (was a Leo) has closed and has been bought by Waitrose.
Another branch (was a Gateway / Somerfield) is apologising for lack of wine stocks, 'making way for new lines'.
Haven't found any real bargains though.

Ah there IS life. First post in a week !!

it was half term, went to the Jurassic coast, don't have a smart phone and out of range without a dongle and a dongle subscription ! Took a box of wine though :)

The Leo stores were a Co-Op marketing brand for their larger seaside town stores - I thought. So Waitrose moving in must be some sort of equity deal, because Leo's owned most of their freeholds, they were all new build about 12 years ago ?

Enjoy your riesling Mr G - cheap as chips.

Picked up a bottle for a fiver last week
Not quite my preferred style. I found it a bit too citrusy and heavy on the petrol
The petrol mellowed after a day or two and the lemon and line flavour sat well with roast chicken stuffed with lemon and tarragon

This went head to head with another £5 Riesling: Schloss Reinhartshausen Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen Riesling Kabinett 2007 which was much more to my liking

2010 £5

Golden, petrol with a splash of lime, more acidic than the 2009 with a short, watery finish. Disappointing but ok for a fiver as Ba* would say.

* I think it's the petrol fumes....I just think of the ciders/beers a fiver could of bought me.
