All I could get excited about was:

Marques de Riscal about £12.99?
Leasingham Magnus Ries
Marques de Casa Concha Merlot
Riscal Rueda

Luckily, I needed some white Zin (I know, it sounds unlikely) so was able to make up the six.

Thanks for this Mel, I may bother going over to west Berks Calcot Mega store.

Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 182. Apr 2009. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2007 Merlot Marques de Casa Concha exhibits aromas of cigar box, clove, cinnamon, plum, and mulberry followed by a ripe, sweet wine lacking the unctuosity of the Carmenere. Nevertheless, this is a full-flavored, pleasure-bent Merlot that should help restore this grape’s good name. Drink it from 2011 through 2019. Drink: 2011 - 2019.

That stuff sounds quite good.

Mel, do you agree with that Parker comment - I'm not keen on "soft in the head" carmenere, so a proper merlot suits me.

a "pleasure bent Merlot" is exactly what it is.

Thanks for the tip, purchased a couple of the Marques de Casa Concha Merlot 2007. Nice heavy bottle which bodes well, although I don't think I will be boding until 2011.

I don't think I will be boding until 2011 - what ? I bode, you bode, they bode....

Proper Merlot can blossom with tax free extras

Aha Wizz - you desperate to try, no will power to hold just the one

I'm certain you'll deposit that big bottle in the re-cycle bank. Not all mega shops have a bottle bank in the car park round here. So I use the Municipal one on the way to somewhere.

A shocking experience if I were to stack the budget whilst doing my duty !

Marques de Casa Concha Merlot 2007 opened today
I can concur with Jay Miller's tasting note. Plenty of delicious cigar box and deep dark plum fruit.
While this shouts new world, it would perform well against many CB bordeaux I've tried
Plenty of life left in this yet too. Wish I had bought a couple more back in 2010

Bode off is the imperative...
