Superb !

Gooseberry and chalky minerals.....Sancerre for a fiver.

There are better Sancerres, Laporte/Jolivet/Vacheron etc but this really is quite classic and is much better than Sainsbury's TTD Sancerre.

Best served chilled

Anybody else tasted this

Yep, last year, Sains had it for £3.99, got a couple and remember thinking I should go back for more, didn’t get around to it though. A Chainier wine, I think.

I had the '05, a good year, what did you get?

Haven't had either, but 06 is supposed to be better for Loire whites, I think.

Actually, I rather liked their Sauvignon, VdP du Jardin de la France 2006, which is made by Lurton - Jacques, I think.

It's £3.99 and only 11.5% vol.

Elderflower - pretty smell. Touch of fizz, nice Sauvignon taste. Some pith or grapefruit on the finish, but a good price.

Must get some more tasting notes up on the site. If there's a choice of Sainsbury, Aldi or Asda, which do you boys want first?

Sainsbury please, Mel. We don't have an Aldi and Asda is a 40 mile round trip up the M4 to Cardiff

I had the 2006.....and will buy a case for £3.75 as Sainsbury have 25% off all wines.

The 2005 went down well on this site too

http://www.wineontheweb.co.uk/a-z/value ... -z_67.html

Got a 90 rating. The Premiere Sancerre only got 89....but Sancerres lacked their usual acidity in 2005 and were a bit fat and rich..

Went to my Sainsbury's today and there was no sign of 25% off anything. Is yours a big one!??

Well, i've had no complaints so far.....when do you want to meet ? 8)

My local Sainsbury is a large store, yes.

I would have thought the offer would apply to all stores though.
