Much better than previous (faulty perhaps?) bottle I had a while back
This had the correct flavour profiles, the 50:50 merlot & cab giving notes of plum and casis and dash of cedar from the oak
Finish not very long and fairly soft tannin so this is for drinking now. Don't hold on for it too long
I paid £7 for this @ co-op which was fair but to think this used to retail at £15 is ridiculous

Well despite my not so glowing reviews of this wine previously, seeing a store with a large stock of 2008, I decided to give it another go (also swayed somewhat by Duncan's review of the 2006)

Starts off well, with the fruit showing well both on the nose and in the mouth. The merlot sings more so in this bottle of the 50:50 blend. Plum & cherry with a light spiciness. Very soft tannin and as the label says this may be good up to 2015 at best so I'd say drink up now.
Unfortunately there's a very odd twang on the finish. I can't determine if it's bitter or what but it's just a strange and slightly unpleasant taste/mouth feel that I can only describe with the word twang
See if anything changes on day 2

Happy to say that that twang showed briefly upon retuning to the bottle but disappeared after standing around for a little while
Fruit felt a little more baked on day 2
I've got another bottle of 08 and an 05. I'll be drinking them up soon and doubt I'll return to pick up any more
