What a super rioja reserva for £8.67.
High proportion of rioja alta fruit, good vintage, French and American oak, the french oaks adds more when young in MHO - vanilla. Good depth of fruit, dark and packed with flavour, and with a decent lick of acidity, not soft, that cuts the palate properly. A jolly nice wine and good for laying down as well.
On post drinking checking, I note that Jamie Goode discovered the deal at the same time, and says how nice for the price, and great with steak. Well, I'm sorry I did not get onto this wine before it was all over.
