They've had 25% off 'selected wines' for a while. I guess that is what you saw. Not a very good selection to my mind.

Got a Roquefort and others from Ocado this morning. Nearly all on offer, plus 15% voucher off everything. Free delivery in a 1 hr slot, nothing missing or substituted.
Unlike several others, this site flags up items OOS at the check-out and gives options of carry on without them, choose something else, or cancel entire order.
Got some rillettes as well. haven't had any for ages.

Ocado are pretty good, been buying various Waitrose wines from them for more than six months now. Their Delivery slot and energy saving policy for Van diesel is very convenient and correct.

The 1998 Vintage Fonseca port was the only realy annoying exception to their OOS rule, and your recent experience. Waitrose online had First Pick in the warehouse of that port, and when they went to pick mine at * 5:30 in the morning on the day the warehouse was empty.

Either that, or the Warehouse staff had bought on Staff purchase the night before.

So, message is... Please don't be too damn frustrated when the exceptional stock clearance / bin end offers go futt at the * 11th hour.

Ocado Order, Payments, and Delivery conditions

I need to make this completely clear for Online buyers.

Ocado work on a just in time basis for cash flow reasons. Ocado own no stock whatsoever.

When I bought that vintage 1998 Fonseca Port online, and booked my delivery slot, the vintage port was in stock. On the day of the delivery, that Port was not reserved for me and there was no Port in the stock location. My order was not paid, nor charged to my card until the delivery date.

Ocado get around this "Just in Time" ordering system, by not charging your credit / debit card until they actually pick the bottles from the warehouse.

This is not OK for ordering bin end bargains.

First come first served does not work as an online order preference and guarantee of shipment at Ocado. Therefore, a customer who places a bona fide order, is unable to complain that they have not fullfilled that order and Contract of Sale.

Folks who read this post, need to understand this supply service and delivery contract. Folks looking to get in first on an extra special deal, may get disappointed and very frustrated, when their order is dumped before 7:00 am on the morning of delivery, (before they turn on their computers) If you get on the phone at 8:00 am to complain, there is naff all you can do to remedy this matter.

They dangle a carrot - you can't secure it by placing an Order (goods and supply contract) !

Quite a clever move by Ocado.
