Waitrose & Ocado

The vines are double-Guyot pruned and planted at a density of 5,500 to 6,500vines/ha. The grapes were harvested with a yield of 58hl/ha in late Sept 2010. The juice was cold-settled before fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and small barrels at 16 - 20°C. Matured on fine lees for 12 months. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Alc 13.0%, TA 3.9g/l, pH 3.25, RS 3.28g/l. Available from Waitrose Wine Direct and 235 branches.
Mel says "Rich, leesy aroma. This is oak aged and has a lot more flavour. Long flavour. Nice".

When Ocado offered this wine, at a third off, on Monday 15th October or a day or so before, I was on the case pretty smartly
It would seem that there had been a run on their Hertfordshire warehouse for this wine ! However I got half a case after a follow-up phone call, and they were very apologetic after my failed 1st attempt online.

Very nice Chablis. Ripe 2010 fruit, rich after 24 hours, and when open the discrete french oak which is very well judged, came properly into play. For me, a lovely wine, the fruit is laced with very ripe lime and pineapple, quite interesting with the oak in the background. Next Spring this wine will be 'a point for me, evolved and harmonious with subtle secondary flavours. Not minerally per se', leesy as Mel says, and a lovely long flavour.

Drink now with pleasure also, this one builds in the glass - yum

A steal at the offer price. Good job by Waitrose, who commissioned this wine for their stores.

nb - Mrs D says, mmmnn, very nice on 1st day, 2nd day, she says, "that's a bit too concentrated a flavour for me" !
