Pretty decent for a 2010 offering
All the tropical fruit flavours without being too sweet
Good mouthfeel
Tried Southbank alongside this and this was superior
I'd go as far to say this is on par with Vav 10

I saw them. live, at the Colston Hall (pronounced "Cawsnaw"). Faux leather flying jacket with furry collar, skin-tight ice-blue jeans and winkle-pickers. I Wanna Hold Your Hand was #1. Backed by the Dave Clarke Five. No wine in those days. No lager either.

Me - 'Sore' them at the Adelphi [Add hell Fee] cinema on Bath Road in west Slough 1966 or was it '67. Long queues. The audience were painfully adolescent, not cool. Loads of screaming girls and shiny suits". Dear me, can't remember the support band. Might have been half of Zoot Money who did clubs in Windsor and Barnes at the time.

Ok - I was an adolescent - But you grow-up fast at boarding school

Responding to the hysteria - John's plea for sanity....... HELP ... I'm feeling down, I'm feeling blue

I wouldn't put this in the same box as Vav. Green tinge and green taste on both D1 and D2. Nettles, acidic, medicinal. The "do not buy again" box has been ticked.

each to their own I guess.
Might have been that the Southbank Estate made it seem better (it certainly is superior to SBE)
I've a bottle of this and Vav left so might try them side by side next time

Yes - Correct MSB is hard to achieve (in the minds of practiced aficionados). Of course there are many styles, particularly when you are in the £12 - £16 price range.

My preference is for a balanced style, a good Sancerre feel and texture with tropical and passion fruit notes, if one gets Tomatoe leaf or Blackcurrant bud pungency as well, that is a huge bonus. Minerality as in flavour imparted from the terroir, is only really detected when the wine has less tropical fruit notes, passion fruit and nettles do not seem to cloak it though.

For balance, and therefore satisfaction, VAV '09 was the star of the recent £8 pound MSBs by a fair margin - in my opinion, and I have two left for special evenings. The '10..... I'm hoping has integrated more, IF, we get it.

Some small producers are trying to make the wine with too much attitude, which I feel is a marketing gag, in order to get noticed. Take that attitude away, and you're left with a rather boring vin de pays / Loire SB with unbalanced acidity.

Some of them change quite radically during their 1st year after release. but then settle down quite nicely. I finished my last JE 2007 last week-end, and I thought it had not changed in the year since June 2010 when stored properly - and was still a very beautiful wine. Will I ever find that sort of MSB for the price again ? - NO - most unlikely

Love the good-uns while you have them.......is my two cents. We never max-out though, when we find the one for the price !

It's a toss-up as to whether I have a Clifford Bay '08 or a Cloudy Bay '09 as my next special, one relaxing evening

Have been TT for a week, the Cottage was the first. This was due to a cocktail of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and steroid pills, plus 2 different inhalers. Been back to doc today and he reckons that lot could well affect my taste. Bubbles tonight, X-Ray and a test to see how much blood is in my alcohol tomorrow.
"Oh what fun we had...."

Mea culpa, cum grano salis...

I retrract my previous, though it was honest at the time.
A slightly lightweight MSB but with all the right nuances. This is day 3, and I still can't compare this to the '10 Vav and Goldwater. Having said that, I have another bottle in the dark, and am quite looking forward to it when my body catches up to my brain.
