This has the lovely blackcurrant and passion fruit flavours of the Goldwater 2010 but with greater body and depth and balanced by a touch of sweetness. Plus you don't have to wait for day 2 . Its an excellent wine with great intenstiy of fruit. Very typical and a joy.

Bloody hell. I tried the 06, 07 and the 08 and got lemon grass on all three. You stumble across the 09 and get soddin' blackcurrants.

I'm going to have to insult you now.

Try and find some.. from somewhere. It aint as classy as the PBs, it's not bone dry. There is some residual sweetness but the flavours are correct and even though its the 09 vintage it is surprisingly pungent.

The bottle is plain, a little dull, but the wine however is really good.

Its a little more expensive but I rate this higher than the Vav '09.

I have just checked. It is available at Tesco online and a lot of the other online sites such as winedirect, everywine etc but it is over a tenner.

For the record.. the Crawford Farm wines are now under the control of one of the big boys, Constellation I think, KC sold the brand. The same may apply to the wine you are drinking, take a closer look.

Both this and the Crawford Farm bottles I have say produced by Kim Crawford Wines NZ and Imported by Constellation.

But not by Kim Crawford, there's a difference. He sold the brand, I know the Crawford Farm wines are produced by a different winemaker under the KC brand, I found this info online last year, will try and find it again.

From what you have written I suspect its the same for the KC MSB but cant say for sure.

Kim Crawford actually sold the company in 2003 to Vincor who were bought by Constellation in 2006. Kim stepped down as chief winemaker in 2007 and left the company entirely and retired in 2008. Matt Large who took over from Kim as chief winemaker was replaced in October 2010.
