Not tried this but just to say (as it's a Decanter and IWC gold medal winner) it's currently £5.97 reduced from £7.62 until Nov 13 at Asda.

Bought the last six at the Sheffield branch earlier this week.

Will open and decant one on Saturday for 2 hours and try.
Whats the window though on these ?? I would guess in the next five years would be ok.

Got round to tasting an 08 this weekend. The 06 will definitely be going back for exchange. They are not a patch on this vintage or it has not aged well at all.

From the off this was as the TN from the Decanter Judges. Dark and thickly coating. But there is more sweet soft fruit especially after 24 hours and the alcohol was much less invasive. Full bodied, not for the faint hearted, but excellent value, if you like that sort of thing.

Been at this again over the last few days. Its cracking. Fantastic dark berry fruit and chocolatey tannin. I thought it was starting to go after 3 days but day 5 accidentally kicked up the sediment and its great again. Delicious. Watch out for offers on this.

Yeah Tribs, have had it a few times and didn't find it half bad (tho never felt blown away at the sane time)

How do you find it compares to the Palo alto ?

Like yourself, I scored some if the Malbec reserva at Sainsburys last week

It's £9, but I scored 6 in November when reduced to £6.

I was impressed with the Palo Alto too. The Palo is probably more universally appealing. Sweet fruit and smokey but softer tannin. This has more bite. With dark chocolate rather than smoke and a really viscous mouthfeel.

Should also point out that the 08 was far better than the 06 IMO.
