Despite the brickbats elsewhere on this forum, this deserves a positive mention
Just reeeeeks of SB on opening the bottle. Cold it is acidic light and a bit sherberty. The gooseberries slide in with temperature as does the wet socks. Just one of the many faces of this grape and, to me, rather a pleasant one. Let's not try to force all SB into one box...vive la difference I say.

I agree with all that you've said.

Apart from the words....obviously.

This wine is rubbish.

Now behave

Yeah ok GK, I'm never keen on the basic PB - for me, the wine gets bloody dull after a while, '08 was poor at PB level. Let us know if you get to '09.

I saw the VM Cellar Sellection '07 on the website this week. Is it in store ? and when to buy ? If offers are on the way. The '07 passion fruit / lychee characteristic is keeping very well in my store, my last one was consumed by guests at dinner last Friday - Fuller figured, and perfect with starters. I stuck a Cloudy Bay label on the bottle

VMCS '07 a gem for the dosh

Now look here, GK, I didn't vote Conservative in the last election just to go about the place keeping an open mind. You wet liberal, you.

Sauvignon is only sauvignon if it's got Sancerre or Saint Clair on the label.

Goose, they're talking about you again over on the Daily Moan.

The comments are worth checking out....

Quote:
Red wine is the perfect accompanyment to a refined yet rich meal; the subtle chemical compounds reacting masterfully alongside the natural sugars and the oakiness of the original casks, revealing a rich, deep and well balanced finish, full of complexity and character.

White wine, on the other hand, just makes me fart.

I opened this '09 over the weekend, its not for me.

I can understand how some would enjoy it, my wife did, but for me it sums up everything I dislike about NZ SB, it’s too intense and lacks any finesse, liver salts with a slice of lemon.

This is just my opinion on the style and I’m not having a dig at Bacchus, there are many out there that will enjoy this wine. Im beginning to think that NZ, as a wine producing region, have made too many SB's that simply don’t taste like wine. Similar to how early NW producers swamped chardonnay with oak, its time to take a step back.
