Mauzac, Ch & CB pleasant bubbly (but not very bubbly). Brioche it says and brioche it has. Light subdued and a little too sweet maybe. Lots better out there at £6 -7.

Mauzac Blanc is know under the following synonyms: Aiguillon, Becquin, Bekin, Bequin, Blanc Lafitte, Blanquette, Blanquette Aventice, Blanquette de Limoux, Blanquette Sucrée, Caspre, Clairac, Feuille Ronde, Gaillac, Gaillade, Gamet Blanc, Manzac, Maousac, Mausac, Maussac, Mauza, Mauza Blanca, Meauzac, Moisac, Moissac, Moysac, Mozac, Mozak Belyi, Peron, Perrond, Pied Rond, Plant de Gaillac, Primard, Queue Fort, Queue Roide, and Sudunais.

A lot of learning there, Mr B. chardonnay in there ? Not very traditional

A dash of muscadelle and SB is more usually added to the Mauzac. Your NV needs more time - probably.

Mel, do you spot any obvious errors in Mr B's regional variation of the theme of this style ?. You'd have know the region pretty damn well, inside out !

Gaillac Perle methode champenoise is not as dry as Blanquette in the Limoux guise - :?: Taste is quite different :roll:

Perle Gayssou dans la Gaillacoise - the list goes on.......

The original Blanquette Ancestrale was produced from the Mauzac (Blanquette) grape. In more recent years to produce the Crément and the Blanquette de Limoux the Chenin grape was introduced from the Loire region and the Chardonnay grape from the Bergundy region. The Mauzac gives the wine its body and aroma and the Chenin and the Chardonnay add to this by reinforcing the bouquet, freshness and finesse. All grapes are harvested by hand into small boxes to prevent damaging the fruit. Regulations also limit the yield to one of the lowest national levels of 50 hectolitres per hectare or less, thus giving the grapes a higher concentration of goodness from the roots and leaves of the vine.

Gaillac perle pétillante - far more rare.
