This seems to have gotten many rave reviews so wanted to see what all the hype was about
This is undeniably a good wine with good acidity but not quite to my liking
As described in many reviews it is pretty Rhone like altho I would say slighty heavier/richer
Initially I found it rather peppery on the finish, almost too peppery for me
On day 2 the pepper had subsided and there was a strong smokey bacon note
Reminded my quite a lot of the Cartegena Pinot Noir with a little less burnt tyre
A good wine but personally I'll stick to Aussie Shiraz for now

Would be interested to see how this develops in a couple of years

Yeah - Elqui valley.

That is a damn good price for this wine. Maj are discounting by 1 pound to £10.99, yet Asda can do it for 18.5% less than that !

Shezz, judging from you detailed TN - good analysis, I recon this wine would evolve positively. At the mo, it sounds disjointed. More harmony could then deliver the pepper and the smoke to something which is rather interesting.

Cartegena Pinot Noir exhibits a load of burnt tyre ? Sure it did not say Syrah on the label  You must have drunk that PN after watching Top Gear...

Did you buy more than one bottle of this ?

Although they had a load on the shelf I only bought the one bottle of Mayu Reserva to see whether it was worth buying more
I don't see it flying off the shelf a I think it's out of the price range of most Asda wine shoppers, especially with the like of Palo Alto Reserva on offer for 3 for a tenner
Personally I don't think I'll spend more of my money here for the moment tho I do believe this will increase in price in the future and is probably a good wine to buy now for later consumption
