Bone dry, oily textured wine with subtle flavours typical of the region.

Similar to Sacred Hill.

The oily texture seems to subdue the flavour both in this and Sacred Hill.

Tis a bit dull, so it is.

Interesting you note oiliness.

That is how I find Riesling when it isn't petrolly -- there's a oiliness about it I dislike...

What's interesting is that Goldwater is a label of Vavasour on which younoted Rielsing like petrol (this thread - http://www.quaffersoffers.co.uk/QOforum ... php?t=6210 )

House style ??

I've often associated an oily texture with a wine's residual sugar, a dry wine should have no perceptible sweetness, in theory, hence no oil, but it is there.

High levels of glycerol perhaps?

Thought this was okay actually. Smelt very tropical fruit-ish, and then exceedingly dry in the mouth as Goosegogs says. Didn't notice any oilyness and far too thick to know what glycerol is supposed to do so I'll leave that alone

Really heavy bottle! Opened it up on day 2 thinking there must be half a bottle left and turned out there wasn't even enough for a glass. Hate it when that happens...
