Not quite a super tuscan - more super plonk. Sangiovese flavours dominate, presumably there are other varietals in there, perhaps Merlot with some Cab.

On opening the bottle first impressions are very good, black fruit and smoky flavours but it seemed that after only a short while you are left with a slightly austere Chianti.

Goes well with spicy tomato pasta dishes and well worth a try at the discounted price if you're a Chianti fan. Piccini have stuck it in a heavier bottle than their Chianti Reserva so presumably they view it as a superior wine, perhaps another year or so in the bottle might prove them right but at £8.99 full price you would expect it to be a bit more heavy-weight now.

I saw this on the T site, now down to £5.70, was tempted but decided against in the end, looks like I made the right decision. I will pick one up instore to try if I see it.

Thanks for the note Wizz.
