Very dark fruit and bitter chocolate. There is a hint of the intriguing corroded iron of the Clancy but thankfully none of the burnt rubber. Some, perhaps, will dislike the bitterness but it feels like a more expensive wine than the £6 odd offer price.

I'm sitting on a few also.

Was planning to try the first this winter, but you never know, I might get impatient.

I had an 06 last year and it was very tasty back thenn think there's a taxing note from both myself and Mel on it
sure it'll be delish if you open it now but will also reward a further cellaring
if you got a few then there's no harm popping (unscrewing) on now to make you own assessment
can always pick up a few of the 08 while on offer for keeping further down the line ;)

I only managed to get the 08 last time I was at WR and based off Mels tasting note I'll be sitting on my 4 for a little while

Shez, I know the '06 PL Barossa alright. Been buying PL shiraz from Waitrose for years, way back to 98 or so. This time I wanted to check the reward for cellaring. The cork stoppered 02 and '04s were out performers when drunk in 2007-2008, they really were. '02 in particular

When there are guys like you and tribs around and Mel, and all of you know this wine well, then I ask..... "how it is getting on"

firstly have to apologise as I was posting on the phone in bed last night so misread the thread title.
Saw Barossa Shiraz and Waitrose and assumed we were talking about the Waitrose offering on an 06 plate

Having said that, I have also had the 06 PL and it was good.
and I am currently sitting on one bottle of the 2008 which is now screw cap rather than cork
Had been debating trying it ssoon rather than keeping it to see whether it was a worthwhile purchase when on future offer

That's the strength and buying prowess we have now. Yeah, you can say the '08 is half decent or whatever, and I or anyone of us, can go out and pick some off the shelf when on offer, without batting an eyelid :) Well ! subject to dosh availability of course

email - if you find something in short supply that you don't want to share with 5k uk gawkers.

I had given a bottle of this to my in-laws, along with a few other bottles for general thanks for help during the move and after.

Was round there on Sunday and they opened this. The chocolate was very noticeable, but no corroded iron. I really enjoyed this and drunk most of the bottle  . I have promised them another :)
