Many thanks for the welcomes :D

Aeres is nothing more than the name of my main World of Warcraft character who conveniently has turned into a handy pseudonym for me to use. You're very welcome to call me 'Ian' instead, but this is a bit of a dull name - especially when I'm addressing the Roman god of wine

It's nice to be here. Goose - my annual switch to red wine doesn't come until October so you have my undivided attention until then! For some reason I've always kept red and white drinking to separate periods of the year - white in the Summer, red the rest of the year. Set in my ways I guess.

Welcome aboard Aeres.

I too enjoy seeking out wines with the a decent QPR, and have been known, on rare occasions, to find myself fortunate enough to stumble across the odd bargain.

Its not often, but its nice when it happens.

Welcome to the gang Ian Image

Always good to see a lurker come out of the shadows

If you are heading to Maj to pick up some of the Ned while on extended offer I do suggest you give a bottle of the 09 Vavasour a go. Seems to be one of the better budget 09s we've come across here.
I'm waiting til I've got through a few more of my stocks before trying to get a hold of some before the offer ends at the end of Aug

If you haven't got time to make it to Maj today, fear not... you've got an extra 2 more days to get to Waitrose:

Ned at Waitrose £5.69

Got a few bottles of the Vavasour - thank you. They were on the shelves at £7.99 but I happened to notice some big signs behind the counter that were due to go in the window tomorrow offering it at £6.99. Fortunately they took pity on me and let me have it at the offer price a day early - lucky me.

Waitrose? What's that? Some shop down South isn't it?

You don't know what you're missing if you've not got a WR :)

Thanks for the heads up on the Vavsour.
Even more reason for me to play Maj a visit now

Dunc, don't suppose you've cracked one of your open yet have you ? Like to get another opinion (Prob best to continue this in the Vav thread)

Shez, I've started a new thread for the Vavasour 2009 vintage, the '08 is out of sight now.

Shez - Sorry cant help with this Vav '09 MSB characteristic just now.

Shez, I took another Saint Clair Oh ! Block 6 and that very expensive Astrolabe kekeregue '09, with very persuasive assertions from Mark, that I would find that allusive pungency - including tomatoe stem and leaf !

For principally storage reasons and account timing, I put off taking the Vav '09 until I pick-up the Volnay. I will phone my local to confirm my reservation for some, to make sure there is not a run on it now.

It's alright. You can't really argue at under £6. It ain't a proper MSB though. The Vav 09' however...

Tribs,
have you had another go on the Vav since your previous tasting notes ?
Glad to hear you rated it well...

I actually think 09 has been a bit of a disappointment for MSB when compared to previous benchmarks...Though this got a whopping 94pts from Bob Campbell which pips many of his beloved 2007s !

I'm off to Maj to pick some up tonight
