Mel,

I noticed that the Sainsbury TTD Sancerre finished top of your recent Sancerre wine tasting.

Would you say it was classic Sancerre as in it was recognisably minerally Sancerre as opposed to a decent Touraine like La Grille.

Or was it just the best of a very ordinary bunch of overpriced wine.

Only, the last time I bought a bottle ( about a year ago ) it was just dry white wine.

Cheers
G

You are exactly right. It was the best of a bunch of supermarket Sancerres. Perfectly good and compared well to the others, but don't go and fill the cellar. When tasted side by side, I preferred the Pouilly Fume to the Sancerre.

Thanks for that.

I have settled on the Mathilde De Favray Pouilly Fume as my chosen French sb now so won't be experimenting any more.

Until of course M&S release the 2006 and it tastes like watery lemon juice and then it'll be back to the bleedin' drawing board again.

God..i'm cynical !
