The guy in Majestic said it was made by concha y toro. It says Cono Sur on the label.

Not an apealing nose. Wet horse and a little acetic. The label says rich, soft and fruity. I'm finding none of those. I wouldn't have even guessed it as merlot. It's a bit rough. Its suprising as it has had some good reports. Maybe that was on the 2008 vintage though.

The Vistasur Cab is only 10p more (on the Chile 20% offer) and a far better buy.

Not impressed Ian. May 10
3 out of 5 Even at this price I wouldn't say it was a bargain. I found it harsh, and not very pleasant to drink. For just a little more money, you can get much, much better wine
.

I'll ask Mark at my local, I'm in there tomorrow, I have the '02 St Emilion GC to p/up - Yum.

Tribs, is this a pup ? A duff bottle ? Hope you don't have any more in stock. For a Friday night, it sounds crap. A cheapo that fails - is like a minus value.

Could be Duncan, but it seems Ian agrees. Only grabbed the one, but I have their Cab and Merlot Rose to try also. Lets hope they are a little better.

I have a couple of those St Emilion to try, thanks to your recommend. Maybe give one a go tomorrow.

I am consoling myself with a Floreffe Blonde Belgian ale. Its a bargain find from Colruyt, a cash and carry which can be found all over Belgium. 50 euro cents a bottle and delicious.

Two days on and the unpleasant aroma has gone. So has the roughness.

To be fair this is a very young wine. Maybe it needs a little time. But not too much.

Rich, not really. Soft and Fruity, yes. Faint hints of Majestic's promised choc and mocha notes are just about there.

It has redeemed itself, somewhat, but I am not going to be rushing for more. I think light and fruity reds are not really my thing.
