I've had a solitary bottle of the 2010 sitting under the stairs from way back when, when we hoovering up all of Tescos stocks on offer
Decided to open it last night to go with harrisa lamb stew that Mrs S had made
Despite having been laid down the whole time the cork seemed quite dry and a little brittle. Thankfully the wine itself was a-ok. In fact it still seemed to have plenty of life left in it. Lots of ripe black fruit and a bit of mint. The fruit carried a bit of sweetness that I'd imagine GK would enjoy and it complimented the spice in the food. Very gluggable and I pretty much finished the bottle, saving about a glass worth to use in Sunday's gravy
Can't recall having seen this on the shelves in a while now

Yes, I agree.

This 2008 Carmenere wine was a pleasurable and concentrated ripe wine with plenty of character from the grape that can / will perform better as a single varietal, than Merlot in Chile. I've NOT had many though - so do not guage the pleasure or quality from what I say ! The vanilla oak & mocha and mint were a good example of **well made NW wine making.

Here is someone else who thought the same: http://www.alastairbathgate.com/2012/04 ... nere-2008/ (I did not get the hot tarmacadam though)

**Auriel Montes was the consultant, I believe.

A search of recent vintages indicates that this producer can sell this wine in USA, HK, and Europe, for double the Tesco price. So at £5.99 on offer, we were getting great QPR.
