I have a £40 voucher for Naked Wines, was looking at a mixed case of whites.

http://www.nakedwines.com/cases/awesome ... e-case.htm

The standard price looks a bit on the steep side, the voucher brings the cost down to just under £4.60 a bottle incl delivery.

Has anyone tried these wines? Worth £4.60 a bottle?

Small and Small Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011 £10.99

This is the second vintage Bill and Claudia Small have crafted exclusively for Angels
We challenged them to make the "best Sauvignon Blanc in the Marlborough region"... no "small" task (cheap pun, sorry)
They rose to the challenge beautifully. We jumped for joy when we tasted this wine for the first time,we think you will to! Fabulous Kiwi Sauvignon at its best

Virgin wine style advertising and expensive prices for unheard of wines puts me off. And the least said about becoming ' an angel ' the better.

The Petit Villebois Sauvignon Blanc 2010 - looks to be interesting. But the PG sounds dodgy, even from the dubious & dodgy blogs on there !

That Angel crap is enough to give ya the pip, better not say anymore.

I've tried a few of the intro bottles from Naked wines and don't recommend many of them
can't say I've tried any of those whites but have tried the Arabella reds and wouldn't return to them myself

Like Goose says, this is another Virgin/laithewaites intro where it seems like good value but really you get what you pay for
Altho I tried a couple of middle of the road Chilean reds at my neighbours the other day that weren't bad

The £40 off and £50 off vouchers for NW are always readily available and are a good enticement, as is the cashback policy that they run but you have to pay into their scheme regularly to benefit from the later

Cheers.

I was hoping to find a decent little Semillon for an everyday glugger but their list is pretty basic.

It says something when you struggle to spend a £40 discount :)

Indeed. They have been throwing those vouchers around like confetti for several years.
I started to create a "basket" a couple of years ago, then gave up (as the site was a nightmare to use and I could not reach a dozen) so cancelled.
Tried again some while later and went to check-out only to be roughly told that I'd already used my voucher.

I looked at a few but didnt get around to it, I had ordered some whites a couple of weeks before, this and this. Both decent and interesting drinks, got for around £2.60 a bottle.

I was going to get te TF TCôtes Catalanes which had dropped to £2.56 but I didnt for some reason, wish I had now.

Yep - I need to wise up for economical drinking. I always seem to up-the-anti when the disco is running at full chat.

I didn't take any reds in the Big T festival. But I did score more TF 1er Chablis at £7.50 a bottle. There is a new prem cru one on the '08 that I got as well from Jean Claude Fromont in the supreme chardonnay case. JCF is the Chateau Ligny guy. So I'm hoping it's up a few notches. One has to Hope with these online jobbies.

The new Big T wine club offer for chablis, Domaine Baillard (at less 50%) is up there on the top of the page. But be warned, the last vintage was sulphered-out. Caveat emptor.

Sainsbury's fought back - So I scored again the Gabby Meffre La Chasse lightly oaked * CdR Reserve '09, cork stopper, embossed glass, for £5.03 a bottle, that was the one that Mel and her team thought was just about right for CdR quaffing.....And, I agree.

Please note for CdR folks, The unoaked GM version for 2010 at Mozzy's with the screw cap is not in the same ball parc.

I wanted some of that 1er Chablis, but I searched a few stores for the '08 and couldn't find any. Only '07s around. It was a great price too.

Chablis:

Yep, the TF 1er '07 was cleared in the stores, sometimes in the wine cooler in bigger stores for a tenner in singles OR at seven and a half when on the 6 plan.

There was no '08 1er in the stores ? Was there ?? Unless it was a shelf replenishment error.

The '07 is still fresh enough, although rich, with decent legs. I'm very sorry that you did not appear take any '07 for your cooler (avoid the dusty ones). I had done the TN here, so you could've sent me a heavy e-mail if you weren't happy !

I don't recall seeing a TN for the '07. I just had it in my head that the '08 was the one to go for. Mel had given that a good review. I was certain that there must have been some in one of the local stores but quickly came to the conlcusion the reduction was to clear the '07s.

I did make use of the offers. I bought a 6 including some Mundulla Shiraz and Denman Sem. I am trying to reduce my stocks at the moment though, so buying as little as I can force myself to.

Sorry Tribs, I had talked about the TF '07 1er on some posts here. Search, finds them all

Also, the TTD and the TF Chablis 2007 1er are the same producers, and I blogged on top of Mel's opinion.

TTD & TF share the same stable for this chablis 1er

I'd been doing a chablis blitz this Summer. Yep also, I have the dreaded stocking problem as well - How deep does this recession run in the stores ? So I'm getting ultra picky on the bargains.

Red '09 burgundy must surely spin-off the top by Christmas.
