Tesco Finest* Crozes Hermitage 2009 £9.99
Cave de Tain
Nice blackberry aroma. Peppery with medium intensity blackberry. Nicely fruity for a Crozes, which can be dry and uninspiring.

Les Dames Huguettes Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2009 £19.99
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret
Some sweet vanilla on the nose. Very savoury taste. Mouth-watering acidity.

Tesco Corbières 2011 £3.79
Les Grands Chais de France
Light, spicy nose. Pretty rustic, tart and definitely needs food, but a heroic price.

Les Grands Chais de France
Some dark spicy fruit on the nose. Rustic, spicy and with warm alcohol.

Tesco Finest* Hermitage 2007 £20.99
Cave de Tain
Glorious smell. Wow, that is so inviting. Spicily oaky and ripe. In the mouth it's fresh, bright and exciting, with a lot of toasty oak flavour. Lovely.

Lacoste Borie 2009 £19.99
Grand Puy Lacoste
Lovely stalky cabernet on the nose. Really inviting. Complex, roast meaty and exciting taste. Yes, there's some farmyard, which I love, but also liquorice and it's showing a little bottle age. Lovely.

Château Phelan Segur 2009 £29.99
Chåteau Phelan Segur
Savoury, dry aroma. Dry, stalky and typical. Unless you particularly want a St Estephe, the Lacoste Borie is a better buy and more enjoyable.
