Alessandro Gallici Prosecco NV Prosecco DOC Laithwaites £10.99 11.5% 100% Glera Produced by Vinnovative snc Sweet, pleasant nose. Fruity and pretty sweet taste. Girly wine. South Ridge Blanc de Noirs 2009 Southern England Laithwaites £24.99 12.5% 77% Pinot Noir, 23% Pinot Meunier Produced by Ridgeview Estate Winery Ltd Definitely a pinkish colour. Beautifully fragrant. I’m thinking strawberries but it might be auto-suggestion. Full-flavoured, tasty and seems off dry. Lovely. Laithwaites Theale Vineyard Blanc de Blancs 2007 Southern England Laithwaites £22.99 12% 100% Chardonnay Produced by Ridgeview Estate Winery Ltd Biscuity, bakery nose. Mmm. Very rich and oaky/biscuity taste. Lovely. This is a great price for wine of such quality. Vg indeed. Paul Goerg Premier Cru Brut Tradition NV Champagne Laithwaites £23.99 12% 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir Fragrant and appealing. Dry and champagne-like, but the English before was more enjoyable. It just was. Paul Goerg Premier Cru Brut Vintage 2004 Champagne Laithwaites £32.99 12% 100% Chardonnay Smells a bit like a dark fruit crumble. Just out of the oven. Very biscuity taste. Seems off-dry. There’s definitely a sweet aftertaste, but I quite like that. Ruinart Blanc de Blancs NV Champagne Laithwaites £49.99 12.5% 100% Chardonnay Love the podgy bottle. Squat, clear glass just looks inviting. Quite an oaky toasty nose. Very savoury, oaky taste. Long, long finish. Fabulous, but out of my price bracket. |
