Lovely aroma.  Oaky and warm with blackcurrant. Very savoury, oaky taste.  Nice.  Quite different from either France or NZ. More savoury, with darker fruit – a hint of blackcurrant.

Deep, rich, brambly nose. Sweet and rich taste, with some minty, cooked blackcurrants. Nice.

Baked, rubbery aroma, as expected. Light and fresh in the mouth, with a little tannic structure. Pleasant and a very good price.

Lovely dark, rich, baked raspberry aroma. The smell when you make raspberry jam. Mmm. Black peppery taste. Savoury and creamy, with a lot of sweet vanilla.

Spicy, oaky nose. Nice taste. The price is about right.

Montes Alpha Syrah 2009

Very rich, deep and inviting nose. Oaky, smoky bacon taste.  It’s lovely but I’d slice a bit of alcohol off it.
