The Co-operative Chianti 2010 £5.49 Tuscany 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot Unoaked 12.50% Minty, fresh nose. Easy drinking, pleasant inexpensive Chianti. Castellani Chianti 2010 £6.49 Tuscany 85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 5% Ciliegiolo Unoaked 12.50% Violet-scented. Light, fruity and easy. Good price. Rocca Vecchia Chianti Riserva 2009 £7.99 Tuscany 85% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon 21 months in oak barrels 13% Pale colour. Light on the nose. Can’t taste the oak at all. Pleasant. Inycon Sangiovese 2010 £6.99 Sicily 100% Sangiovese Unoaked 13% Spicy and interesting nose. Very inviting. Lovely taste. There’s a lot going on for an unoaked wine. Very nice indeed. The Co-operative Montepulciano D’Abruzzo 2010 £8.99 Abruzzo 100% Montepulciano 40% aged in French and American oak for 12 months 13.50% Dark and fruity nose. Ripe and fruity. |
