Laurent Miquel L'Artisan 2010, Faugères £7.99 13.50% Cork Syrah & Grenache Very dark, plummy, perhaps liquorice, nose. Rich, dark and savoury. Herbal and moody. Good price. Château La Dournie 2009, St Chinian £8.99 13.5% Cork Beguiling nose – sorry, that’s the word that sprang to mind. Spicy taste. Savoury and interesting. Mas des Mas 2011, Languedoc £9.99 14% Cork Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre Ripe, dark and fruity nose. Rich but savoury palate. This is great. Spicy, herbal and interesting. Domaine de Villemajou 2009, Corbières Boutenac, Gérard Bertrand £14.99 14.5% Cork Vanilla and ripe fruit on the nose. Quite powerful. Rich,ripe, plummy fruit with some liquorice. A notch up from others tasted. |
