La Grille Pinot Noir Rosé 2011, Vin de France £6.99 12% Screwcap Bit of a musty nose. Off-dry and lacking verve. Domaine La Chautarde Rosé 2011, Côteaux Varois en Provence £8.99 13.50% Screwcap Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan Savoury and with warmish alcohol. Nah. Château Pigoudet ‘La Chapelle’ Rosé 2011, Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence , 13% Cork Very, very pale. Dry and intense. Not at all fruity, but that’s not the way of these wines. Côtes de Provence Sainte Victoire 2011, Famille Negrel £9.99 13% Screwcap Little aroma. Dry, savoury and grown up. Quite good. Commanderie de Peyrassol Rosé 2011, Côtes de Provence £10.99 12.5% Cork Little aroma. Lightweight and easy. M de Minuty Rosé 2011, Côtes de Provence £12.99 13% Cork GrenaThe che, Cinsault & Tibouren In a provencal bottle with a big M on the label, which of course I’m drawn to. Very savoury and salty. Aperitif, I’m thinking. Château Sainte Marguerite Grande Réserve Cru Classé 2011, Côtes de Provence £11.99 12.5% Cork The merest salmon blush. Little aroma. Nice flavour. Dry, but with a hint of fruit, which makes it nicely approachable. My favourite rosé here. Château Barthès Rosé 2011, Bandol £11.99 13.50% Cork Mourvedre, Grenache, Cinsault Mid-pink, with little aroma. A hint of cherry on the palate, but the alcohol is warm. Fairleigh Estate Pinot Noir Rosé 2011, Marlborough £7.49 12.50% Screwcap Light nose. Nice palate. Bright acidity, juicy and with a hint of fruit. Good. Black Cottage Pinot Rosé 2011, Marlborough £12.49 13% Screwcap Pinot Noir & Pinot Gris Little nose, but the taste is good. Juicy, mouth-watering acidity and a touch of cherry. Good. Villa Maria Private Bin Rosé 2011, East Coast £8.74 12.50% Screwcap Merlot & Malbec Little aroma. Cherry, bordering on bitter cherry, on the palate. Rioja Rosado 2010, Muga £9.99 13% Cork Little aroma. Nicely full flavour. Cherry and juicy acidity. Good. |
