Barbeito Single Harvest 2000 Madeira 50cl 18.99
100% TinTA Negra with grapes sourced from the S Aurelio H Silva vineyard, the best plots of Estreito Camara de Lobos, planted on
volcanic soils and hand-harvested. Made using the canteiro system, with extended natural ageing whereby the wine spent 9 years in old
French oak barrels. This is a very particular Madeira style inspired by Winemaker Ricardo Diogo’s grandfather. Alc 19.0%, pH 3.36, RS
1.9g/l. Waitrose Wine Direct and 21 branches.

Stunning aroma. Smoky, baked, lovely. Savoury, salty and yet sweet taste.

Barbeito Boal Reserva Madeira 50cl 13.99
100% Boal grapes sourced from small growers on the volcanic island of Madeira and hand-picked. Maturation is through the canteiro
system with natural exposure to the warmth of the island through ageing in old French oak casks for 5 years. Winemaker Ricardo Diogo
is the current recipient of the RevisTA de Vinhos Fortified Winemaker of the Year Award. Alc 19.0%, pH 3.48, RS 2.5g/l. Waitrose Wine Direct and 1 branch.

Caramel nose. Sweet loveliness. Chocolate, vanilla, wood, brown sugar. Acidity. Yum.

Cockburn’s Special Reserve Port 10.99
A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, TinTA Barroca, TinTA Roriz, TinTA Amarela and Tinto Cão made by the Symingtons. The main
property for Cockburn’s is QuinTA dos Canais located in the Upper Douro. Soil is schist and the grapes were hand-picked with a yield of
30hl/ha.A pre-ferment maceration lasting 2 - 3 days was followed by vinification in traditional and robotic lagares and also in autovinification
tanks with natural yeasts at 26 - 30°C. Fortification took place with the addition of approx. 20% of grape spirit at 77% alcohol by volume.
The Reserve category was created to meet the opportunity between Vintage and Ruby Ports. Special Reserve has been matured in oak
casks for 4 - 5 years. Alc 20.0%, TA 4.4g/l, pH 3.6, RS 100.0g/l. Special Offer: Save £2.00, £10.99 - £8.99 from 09/11/11 to 06/12/11.

Fiery nose. Dark, sweet, like chocolate covered sour cherries, perhaps.

Waitrose Late-Bottled Vintage, Symington Family Estates 2006 Port 9.99
Blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, TinTA Roriz, TinTA Amarela, TinTA Cão and TinTA Barroca grown in the Douro Valley, Upper Corgo
and Upper Douro sub-regions on schist soil. Grapes 100% hand-picked with average yield of 30hl/ha in mid-Sept. Preferment maceration
and fermented for 2 - 3 days in traditional and robotic lagares and also in autovinification tanks with natural yeast at 26 - 30°C. Fortified
with approximately 20% of grape spirit at 77% alcohol by volume. Aged in seasoned oak vessels and then bottled with a light filtration.
Winemakers Peter and Charles Symington. Alc 20%, TA 4.8g/l, pH 3.5, RS 100g/l. Waitrose Wine Direct and 255 branches.

Very dark, earthy smell. Not necessarily a good earthy smell. Dense, sweet and chocolatey taste. Pretty good.
