Tasted 05/07/11 Tesco Finest* Valpolicella DOC Ripasso 2009, 6.99, Tesco Almost no smell. Fruity, with some dried fruit flavours. Not for me. Tagus Creek Red 2010, 5.99, Tesco This is Shiraz/Trincadeira. Smells very young. Tastes raw and young. Warm alcohol. Not for me. Tesco Finest* Barolo 2006, 16.29, Tesco Pale brick red. Quite a bacony nose. Chalky tannins as expected. Nice sweet fruit with oak in balance. Needs food. Baron de Ley Graciano 2009, 8.99, Tesco Dark purple colour. Sweet, perhaps violet nose. Oaky and with dark, quite concentrated, fruit. Very dark finish. Baron de Ley Maturana 2009, 8.99, Tesco By all accounts, Maturana is a grape. No, me neither. Nice creamy nose and with dark, ripe plum. Sweet, ripe and interesting. I'll buy this for home. It's weird, and I like weird. Pago de los Capellanes, Ribera del Duero 2010, 12.99, Tesco Dark fruit on the nose. The alcohol's quite warm and the fruit very dark. Tesco Finest* Douro Reserve 2008, 7.29, Tesco Juicy, fruity nose. Sweet and easy. Piccini Memoro NV, 8.99, Tesco Very, very sweet nose. Sweet taste. I quite like it, but it's practically a dessert wine. |
