Natural malo in tank and then matured, with no oak, for 8 - 12 months. Bottled Jan 2011. Winemaker David Fahey. Suitable for vegetarians. Alc 13.0%, TA 6.0g/l, RS <2.0g/l. Special Offer: Save 1/3, £10.49 - £6.98 from 29/06 to 19/07. Available from Waitrose Wine Direct and 215 branches. Very elegant, tasteful, label. Toasty, spicy oak. Dark fruit and some mint on the nose. Spicy taste, as well. Plenty of tannin, which is a little furry, but a good house claret. 24 May 2011 |

Mel, the blurb on the WR website says: Baron de Tours is an elegant, medium-bodied Claret from the gravel vineyards of the Médoc. It’s a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, which lends it a lovely blackcurranty edge, and Merlot. Is this out of date info that may have applied to previous vintages ? |

Mels right about Merlot being the dominant grape Well at least this tastes more Merlot than Cab Some cherry flavour initially but fades quickly and becomes watery and thin Too young and no complexity for my liking. Wouldn't recommend it and can't believe it sells for £10.50 normally! |

Baron de Tours I've said my piece. If you missed it, you didn't miss much. Interesting.... After writing it, someone tried to find my identity with a (dot exe) 4 processes file. So, I've edited. probably a coincidence. Might be Google, if they are tooling up for a facebook look-alike ? |

24 May 2011 On offer at the mo. All of the above, except for some positive evolution. Not furry at all now, well, not to my mind. Not savoury / dry straight off the blocks, a sweeter Medoc cos of v.ripe 2009 harvest. Rich, a bit of Medoc cedar now on the palate as well. This one does not need much time to open......very handy. Echo Mel - Very pleasant house claret. Grab for £6.98 - Stocks low at my branch. V. till 21st Feb. 26th Jan 2012 |

Wouldn't recommend it and can't believe it sells for £10.50 normally £10.50 is nonsence for a generic jobby (24 euro a box in france, Une bouteille FOC gratuitee') Supermarkets aren't going to give you a real deal on claret, after selling some of the most diabolical stuff in past decades. Trumped-up taxes on duff stuff is truly mental for Brit claret imbibers Such is life in the UK. I didn't find this '09 claret skinny though ! You must 'ave 'ad a duff bottle there. |
