Bought a couple of bottles of this in April 2009 from TWS at £7.50. Opened the last one on Saturday. Oh, what a delightful wine. Bottle sidea covered in deposits, leaving sleek softish yet powerfully restrained wine with meaty and dark chocolate tones and yet still feeling youthful. If you have any, enjoy now but will keep. |

Sounds very nice indeed P. For folks who dont know: Dont know stuff: http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=395614 The big advantage with The Wine Society is that even their cheap wines offered to members are normally alive and kicking [ie haven't been killed off with chemicals and preservatives] therefore the kind of evolution that Pontac is talking about is possible. With many cheap wines these days - evolution fails, because the retailer or the producer or both are hell-bent on consistency - So they have been known to dose them up at bottle time before they arrive in the shops. Consistency - does not generally produce delightful wiith aging, at this price. |
