Post subject:  Barbaresco Bocco`s Soho offliner notes...

Pio Cesare, Barbaresco "Il Bricco" 2003
Light Crimson in colour, dry with soft ripe red berries with a spicy finish
Tannins are well integrated and is drinking very well now.

Azienda Paitin, Barbaresco "Sorì Paitin 2001
Deep ruby with an orange rim, dry with big ripe red fruit flavours coming through long finish hot spicy edge.
Still a young wine with plenty of development to come, very good indeed.

Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco "Rabaja" Riserva 2000
Mid Ruby in Colour with orange to the rim not as deep as the Sori Paitin,
Gorgeous nose, someone mentioned roses and this fits with my memory of the wine.
Nice soft cherry / red currant with enough tannins holding it together

La Spinetta, Barbaresco "Vigneto Starderi" 1998
Lovely Rhone ruby colour nice and deep with a zippy fresh raspberry nose with deep licorice coming through at the end !!
Nicely developed wine soft ripe red berry great length and a well balanced wine drinking great now.

Giordano Giovanni Barbaresco 1974
Past its best, port nose on opening very deep but plesant.
Brown light onion soup was my impression of the colour, Simon explained aged Barbaresco wines usually show this range of colours.
Tasted ok nothing to rave about and happy to have tried a wine of this age.

Also opened the 1971 which I passed on, a few said it was ok to good, once again faded faster than my train home !!

Bruno Giacosa, Barbaresco "Santa Stefano" 1997
Complexed nose of flower/chewy red pastels, doesn’t sound right but I was lost which wine I had at this stage.(Asili or Santa)
Tight cherry/raspberry which released more fresh friut in the glass over time even after it had already been decantered.
Deep ruby with orange/brown rim, a promising wine with lots going on with good length. I beleive this will still need more time to delevope further.
This note might be for the Asili though as I didn’t pour them myself, and another wine got poured and was getting lost on the number of bottles !! (not a bad thing though !!).

Cascina Luisin, Barbaresco "Sori Paolin" 2001
Deep ruby colour, sour cherry with earthy note in the background, plenty of tannin too young for me would try again in 5 years to see where it is.

The stand out value for money sample that Birger provided was the Nada Barbaresco Riserva 06. Very smooth great nose of petals / cherry tannins soft and mid finish.

Very enjoyable afternoon in the Smoke, food was good but expensive.
