This is fine if you can remember to open it early. Initially, there was a light smell of ripe pears and a little wet cardboard and sweeties. However, when we went back to it, it was beautifully catty. It had a sharply acidic taste, which I think many of us want on a Loire Sauvignon. It lasted well. The group liked this slightly more than the Premier Sauv from Sains. 9/05/10 |

I've done this wine on 11th March this year. 1st week on offer, straight out of the blocks at £4.99, very young and spritzy It's probably calming down a bit now (the spritzy light sulphur whiff on immediate opening is subsiding to wet cardboard now ) And yes, a typical budget Loire SB that is good of its type because of a long dry Autumn at harvest. Mel, did your team say anything else I must smell some cardboard now, it is probably the faint whiff of caustic soda and predominant wet low grade Russian tundra pine species (like balsa - no resin) wood pulp they use in paper making. |

It's a sulphur-related smell. Probably the glue that binds it together. |
