At the end of a hot Saturday, I quaffed most of one of these. JE Sauvignon Blanc '07 Accolades Silver Medal - Decanter Magazine - September 2008 Very bright and appley. A gooseberry nose. Herbaceous and lively. A lovely balance and effect. Gooseberry flavours. Very clean, dry and fresh. 2008 World Wine Awards. www.winecompanion.com.au James Halliday 26th September 2009 Shares all the fruit flavour characteristics with the Grey Ghost, the touch of white peach along with gooseberry very much part of the scenery. Drink sooner than later. 94 points. I can inform Readers, that Mr Halliday is slightly wrong, as of 6 months later and kept in very good conditions, the wine is still absolutely wonderful, still has some prickle, and very fresh and very pale (colour unchanged). Superbly integrated flavour - no girly, simple sugary 09 component here at all. Do not serve too cool if you're lucky enough to have some in good nick. Massive difference between this and all of the 2009 offerings tasted so far this year - Yet to find Goose's Saint Clair star, which could be on par ? I shall see. Have saved a glass for my dear Misses. For the price of pleasure I give 98 points. |

Less Star Spanged Banner than the Oh Block - yet more poise and nicer balance - Not so show offy - Yet to try the Clifford Bay 09 - you found it yet on some sort of offer ? I reckon the Pioneer Oh Block needs more time to settle down. I'm laying down Old Renwick and Te Muna as well. It's gonna be good People been asking questions ? Mel's been missing you, friend Yah got our emails ok, yeah |

I found the 09 Oh Block quite restrained. But then that may have been because I had been drinking the SC basic which is very in yer face with all my favourite notes of blackcurrant and capsicums. I haven't found any cheap Clifford Bay yet. I shall whisper quietly in your ear if I do. No, not seen any emails but then I haven't had a connection for months. I was slow to sort out the problem because we had lots of short holidays booked after going nowhere last year so was busy and not all that bothered. So far Cyprus, twice on pub and castle crawls around N.Wales and a non wine 11 days in the South of France. The Lake District and Greece to come. Broadband sorted though but cannot get access to old AOL email accounts. |

Had a bottle of JE 07 yesterday. Delicious ! though I do think it's better to drink it sooner rather than later I found it had lost a little of it's freshness and instead had evolved some depth and richness big burst of fruit comes thru initially, some of which I'm happy to say is the blackcurrant I now look/hope for in MSB (yet so regularly fail to find) excellent mouthfeel too like Duncan often has previously mentioned |

Shez, a point to note about the '07 Marlborough fruit, which revealed the white peach as well as lychee and other tropical stone fruits in the hands of good winemakers and quality growers, is that they are lasting very well. I note that Laithwaites are now asking £30 a bottle for the last of their Cloudy Bay '07 stock. Yep - if you want this flavour, it costs this money now. Not quite double yet ! We should have taken all the JE'07 we could find - wise after the event Thanks for the dozen at the last min :D |

Ha, yeah was a bit of a result finding that last 12 and even more for me find that last 3 in Asda of all places when I'd all but given up hope I visited tony L's Vinopolis store for the first time yesterday and saw he had some 07 Msb in stock. Can't remember the producer now but maybe I should take another look tomorrow I've got 1 more JE 07 left to enjoy and then 1 08 to compare against it funny, rereading your TN you mention your 07 was still bright and clear yet mine had taken a slight golden hue tho thankfully didn't have any signs of sherry noted coming through I've got 2 Renwicks on 08 plates to have a go at too along with an 05 Cb te koko then that's much of my decent MSB reserves gone |
