Alsace
£8.99
111 stores

Nothing pointing to Riesling on the nose. Dry and with texture. A bit of sweet fruit. Not bad, but not exciting.

Was on offer 2 for £10, dry and grapefruity. Goes well with Chinese food - at the discounted price.

If you pay more does it go less well?

I bought two yesterday, hope to try one at the weekend.

It does when you're swilling it down.

Actually it was the 2007 that's on the shelves of my local Tesco. Things tend to move more slowly around here.

NE England. What does that mean? Not the postcode and house number, but broadly.

The local Tesco store is Newton Aycliffe where the standard question asked in the wine aisle is 'have you got something sweet and white luv?'.

I challenge anyone to name a supermarket with higher blossom hill sales on a Friday. I don't know why they just don't leave a pallet at the checkouts.

The plus side is if you want a petrol flavoured Riesling you can probably find some nicely aged bottles that have been studiously ignored by the good folk of Newton Aycliffe.

I opened the first bottle over the weekend, quite cool/fresh tasting and very lemony plus the grapefruit for sure, a touch thin, not what I was expecting.

I quite like this, especially at 2 for £10. It's not quite there, but what the **** does one want for a fiver? OK, a touch too sweet but I'll get some more at this price.
