Ch Pichon Longueville 2006, Pauillac Sweet, warm, spicy wood on the nose. The tannins are quite furry, but there’s plenty of warm fruit. Nowhere near ready. Very drying, coffee-grounds tannin, but refreshing acidity and sweet fruit on the finish. 13.1% Ch Pichon Longueville 2005, Pauillac Less oaky than the 2006. More brambly fruit and some spicy vanilla. The alcohol seems warm and the wine nowhere near ready. Dark, brambly, ripe fruits – very brooding, but with freshness on the finish. 13.6% Ch Pichon Longueville 2004, Pauillac Very, very coffee-scented. Very attractive, perfumed nose. Green in the way of asian herbs. In the mouth it’s rounded and oaky but with bitter, dark tannins on the finish. 13.3% Ch Pichon Longueville 2003, Pauillac Dark, roasted coffee on the nose. The tannin is noticeably smoother, less rough and raw. The alcohol is a bit forward. Tannin on the end, but not so gritty and bitter. 13.4% 32 hl/ha compared with 44 in 2004 and 37 in 2006 . Ch Pichon Longueville 2000, Pauillac Beautifully like the inside of mahogany drawers. Spicy and gently warm, with some dark red fruits. Beautiful in the mouth. Spicy with tannin, but it’s smoothed out a lot and the aftertaste is like baked plums, perhaps with nutmeg or black pepper. Juicy, ripe blackcurrant finish. Heaven. Ch Pichon Longueville 1990, Pauillac A completely different aroma from previous wines. Like very ripe apricots with fresh mint leaves. Sweet nose, but with freshness. Turning garnet with some brick. Smoothed tannins, with baked fruit. Very calming. Spicy with liquorice. Beautiful. Rounded and whole. |

You are a most fortunate lady today. Heaven as you say You neglect to say which side of the wall you were sampling. La Comtesse Or Baron. The 1990 of either - wow wow . and the 2000 as well - spoilt rotten I have loved one or two of the Comtesse, the '85 lush. 88' much harder. Never had the Baron and the second wines, I preferred the La Reserve to the Tourelles which use to be in Majestic for less than £20....not that long ago. La Reserve bought in France, is more feminine, and I like that. Enough - I'm |

There are two properties at Ch Pichon Longueville, historically owned by a Baron and a Comtesse (de Lalande). |

...she was on the telly with Oz & JM. It was the flowery outflowings of description that got to me. Probably the cause of the breakdown. |

Wet and bloody miserable here - foul after an Indian Summer, it's all coming down the Thames Valley from somewhere further west - any guesses ? I like fireworks - But You could n't spark'em tonight . Now it's tipping down, better turn-up Radio 4. Water falling furiously on my office roof lights. I'll need a brolley to get across the patio - Bu*ger. Do ya get the feeling that the Planet has already ended News Quiz on R4 at the mo. |

It's that Goose and his b****y mountains again. Many a time I've driven the M4 when the weather changes in but a few yards from bright sunlight to evil or vice-versa. |
