Don't have the energy to convert the asterisks to red stars or fanny about with the shape of it.

Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc 2007, Louis Jadot - Majestic

Heaven. Beautiful ripe fruit and new oak that seems warmed in the sun, rather than toasted. Oaky flavour, but not chewy. Very nice oak/fruit balance and the ripe and rich fruit lasts beautifully. *

A very nice list there Mel, and something for everyone.

I have bought one of them

After much investigation for the 2002 harvest in Champaigne, I bought this one last January, in the post Christmas offers. I like the - Jacquart Brut Mosaïque 2002 and it presents nicely. Lovely, very fine mousse as well.
Shortcut plucked from my favourites

How long do you recon the Mosaïque 2002 may hold ? - being ripe & full and mildly toasty, it could go on very well indeed. I'm thinking of a few luxury inflation busters for '10 and onwards

A long time since I got my laughing gear around a lovely Mercurey 1er, The last one that scored like that was from the wine society - way back.
2007 good in southern burgundy, like the Fuisse and St. Veran then

Yeah, I like lightly chilled Ygay - but stupid money recently

I will not bother your email inbox now - Thanks Mel.

BTW, how do we earn your commission when we mooch around the store and pic as we go ?

You're a :qofgold:

Mel,

was reading a page in Maj's wine mag on Robert Mondavi.

I see you put the Fume Blanc in the list of Maj stars. No mention of any oak in your notes - was there anything there?

Did you happen to give the Napa PN a go too at your maj last tasting ?

I was almost disappointed by the Fume Blanc as it usually smells very attracitvely oaky. The taste "gripping" refers to some texture - in this case oak.

Not sure they were showing the PN, but I didn't, and haven't, tried it.
