100% Albariño, hand-harvested. A small quantity of the very best grapes are picked and then allowed to start fermenting naturally about a week before the main harvest. This ferment is then used to start the fermentation of the whole harvest. The wine is then racked and left on fine lees over the winter. In the spring, the wine is taken off lees and bottling starts from April onwards. Winemaker ~ Enrique Pineiro Cores, Adegas Gran Vinum, a family winery. Ripe, peachy aroma, like Viognier. Peachy flavour, warm alcohol but plenty of cleansing acidity. Just, very nearly, off-dry. New, available now, 379 stores, exclusive, diam cork 12.5% 14/10/2009 |

Sounds good to me, just got the Pazo San Mauro from Thresher's. Beginning to like this stuff. |

both my local sainsbury & tescos seem to have removed their TTD/finest Albarino from their shelves. Had to settle for the Martin Codax at maj. Will keep my eyes peeled again. Ba, glad to hear Albarino is growing on you sir GK you are a bit of a when it comes to picking up these bargains ! |

What can I say, you snooze you loose. I just popped in to Aldi to see if there was anything of interest. Left empty handed. |

Bacchus, am now scared of you. That picture is horrible. The baby Bacchus was endearing. |

This (on MJ's rec) is my 3rd Albariño. The Martin Codax is so complicated but no soul. The Pazo grabs you and is (so far ) my favourite. This is "in between". Pleasant, very pleasant, yes I'll buy some more... but the Pazo moves the soul. Me like Albariño...and Torrontes. |

can't say I've ever seen the Pazo at any of my Threshers Got a Ttd thee other week to give a go I was a little disappointed by the Martin Codax the other week. Found it almost unalbarino like. I usually expect a peachy or slightly floral element but found this to be more apple/lemony, almost like examples of Gavi that I've tried. |

Very much like Viogner as Mel said. A good Albarino should have some Chablis-like minerality behind it and this doesn't. Not a bad wine for the price but not the holy grail of Albarinos. |

It's one of the better value Albarinos out there but I always think back to the bottle I once had in a restaurant that was so steely and mineraly and perfect with seafood. I was so pleased with my choice of wine I proposed to the present mrs wizzy. I would possibly still be single if the ttd had been served. |
