Not much smell - slight creaminess. Off dry and a bit gaggy. tasted 11/09/05 Note, Asda offer in July 06 doesn't give vintage. |

So quite good by pinot grigio standards then I once bought a bottle of La Prendina single estate pinot grigio from M&S which two published wine writers both rated as M&S best white wine. It was foul. It tasted of almonds in a horrible sugared almonds kind of way. I was violently ill the next day and vowed to give up wine if I survived. I was ok by the weekend and just gave up pinot grigio. G |

PG is definitely my worst grape - actually Ruby Cabernet is up there as well. To me it tastes and smells of soluble aspirin. It's useful in an exam-style blind tasting because it shouts to me. However, Pinot Gris - ie same grape, but grown in France - is fabulous and it's hardly believable that it is the same grape. Some of my friends are intelligent women (hard to believe, I know) who make sensible decisions throughout their lives and then we go out to eat and they suggest Pinot Grigio - it harms the relationship, I think! |
