Winemaker and winery: Pablo Ossorio. Bodegas Murviedro SA. Grape variety: 100% Bobal. Region: Utiel – Requena. Viticulture/Vinification: Vineyards are situated at 600-1200m. Vines are on average around 10 years old. Average yield is about 4,500 litres per hectare. Grapes are destemmed and soft-crushed and only the free run juice is used. This wine is unoaked. Cherry aroma, perhaps like maraschino cherries, not in the syrup. Or is the syruping process called maraschino, as opposed to the variety of cherry. Fruity but dry. Nice overall feel for the price. 11.50% 02/04/09 |

For maraschino, no harm in Googling: Noun 1. maraschino cherry - Dalmatian bitter wild cherry tree bearing fruit whose juice is made into maraschino liqueur marasca cherry, Prunus cerasus marasca Prunus cerasus, sour cherry, sour cherry tree - rather small Eurasian tree producing red to black acid edible fruit marasca - small bitter fruit of the marasca cherry tree from whose juice maraschino liqueur is made. |
