Strong reductive smells of metal polish. Fruity enough, but the aroma spoils. Apparently that’s what it’s like, rather than an off bottle. Watch this be discontinued. 01/04/2009 |

http://www.bobswinereviews.com/saint-cl ... eview.html I got this one today from Majestic. £11.99. I also got some of their Saint Clair basic sold under Majestic's own label for £8.79. Along with a load of dry French rose..mostly Provence but also a pinot by Domaine Begude. Supposed to be a stunner. Will report back. |

Tasted it at the winery earlier this year, bought several to consume and bought half dozen once back home from Majestic. Lovely pungent Marlborough SB, Oh! Block is my favourite of the 08 Pioneer Blocks. |

Will crack one with confidence, as planned for my Misses's birthday next month, which will draw opinion from a few other folk as well. Hmnnn - Metal polish; Brasso / Silvo or Barman's Friend ? A point for discussion - when wine is made in stainless steel tanks does it acquire a very faint stainless note for a while ......... Tap does, when filling newish stainless boat tanks ! |

No, the wine should have no hint of steel!. It's a while since I tasted this, and several hundreds of wines have slipped across my palate since, but I think I queried the bottle and they said that all the bottles they'd opened had been like that (at the tasting) and so it was just how it was. Perhaps just a temporary blip as the sulphur reacts and then calms down. Would be interested to hear if anyone has a similar experience in the future. |
