Post subject:  Viña Fuerte Old Vine Garnacha 2005 Waitrose 5.49

100% old bush vine Garnacha from vineyards situated on clay and chalk at 600-800m altitude with strong diurnal influence. 18-20hl/ha yield. Hand-harvested grapes are fermented in epoxy-lined cement tanks at controlled temperatures (max. 28°C). Regular délestage to ensure maximum colour and tannin extraction. Part macerated on skins over 15 days for added structure and weight. Chips and 20% of the blend matured in barrel for three months. Unfined. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Like the label. Sweet vanilla on the nose. A touch of fizz, which I don’t like on red wine. The alcohol’s too hot. Not good, sadly.
Alc 14.5%, TA 5.7g/l, pH 3.63. Available from Wine Direct and 192 branches.
