Post subject: | Lindemans Sydney Cove Shiraz Cabernet 2006 Tesco £4.99 |
Grape varieties: Shiraz 70% Grenache 30% 7 grams/litre residual sugar. 13.50% 2006 showed a good start to the vintage across all regions with the potential to be a good cropping year. Budburst and flowering were good in most districts and rain in Spring promoted luscious growth. Mid January experienced a dramatic climate change with a long period of intense heat which brought the vintage on a lot sooner than normal. At harvest the best parcels of grapes are sorted leaving only ripe berries in each bunch. Parcels of Shiraz and Grenache were crushed and fermented separately in stainless steel before. Before the final blending process selected parcels were matured in oak giving a hint of spice to compliment the juicy berry flavours and ripe fruity character of the wine. Sealed with a screwcap in order to reach the consumer at the optimum quality demanded by the winemaking team. Renowned for consistency and quality, Lindemans wines promise more than the partnering of quality grapes and craftsmanship. An exciting new addition to the Lindemans family, the Sydney Cove range is a celebration of this pioneering history paying homage to the home of the very first vines to be planted in New South Wales over 250 years ago. Inspired by this spirit our founder Dr Henry Lindeman planted his own first vines in Australia's Hunter Valley decades later in 1843. Little smell, perhaps some toast. Light fruity and fair for a fiver. 712 stores 07/10/2008 |
