The fruit is gently pressed and then cool fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel using specific yeast strains, helping to carry the flavours from the vineyard to your glass. The Reach Sauvignon Blanc 2007was launched to wide acclaim winning both a Gold medal at the prestigious 2008 London International Wines Challenge and a Silver medal in the Decanter World Wine Awards. Now we proudly release the 2008 vintage which is true to its illustrious roots and offers everything you've come to expect from a vibrant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Catty and typical. Green, fresh and inviting. Fruity and fresh - tangy and pretty long. Good. 717 stores 07/10/2008 |

Not yet a Master of Wine. Still have to complete my dissertation. Would you like me to give it a star? Have you tasted it? If so, and you think it deserves it, I'll bow to your opinion. |

The 2007 is wonderful. Pure blackcurrant leaf. Similar to the 2006 Sacred Hill. I haven't seen the 2008 yet. I have tried The Reach 2008 sauvignon/pinot noir rose though. All light pink and passion fruity. Pure sauvignon really. Pretty nice though The Shepherd's Ridge at M&S is definitely part oaked btw. |

Ha ha .....Not sure that is right - Goosegogs is an NZ disciple, whilst I have tried wonderful Sauvignon's from Tony Laithwaite's choices around the Loire for 2006 and 2007, as well as Malborough. I'm a francophile - but will bow to the fabulous Cloudy Bay which is strong money. Weighed and measured against that Oyster Bay sauvignon which is everywhere, Oyster Bay seems to have gone down the plug hole with the bath water in recent vintages. I suppose WE have to decide what is BENCH MARK for Malborough, and then compare this wine against the bench mark, and then against the value of a sub Sauvignon Blanc £10 wine. I think I know what Mel means by CATTY, I've had too many SB's from antipodean regions where that type of acid in the wine to cut the palate and give freshness, seems to be produced by a chemist ! We need to know, if that type of 1st nuiance (spelling) perceived in the wine is overly prevalent or not. In terms of a Re-Review, I think both of you should try the wine again, both as an apperatif and with supper. Take care Goosegogs, BTW, since you are an NZ disciple, select for me what to buy from NZ please, and I will go out and get some of it in for My Misses and me. |

I agree that Oyster Bay is nothing wonderful. Although nice enough in it's own slightly muted way. Jackson Estate 2005 and Saint Clair Vicar's Choice 2006 are my all time favourites. Sacred Hill 2006, Vavasour's The Reach 2007 and Montana Reserve ( within 6 months of release...the fruit fades quickly leaving behind a very heavy almost oaky wine ) are all pretty good. In fact, the 2007 MR is a slightly complex version of The Reach which is pungent in flavour but only light/medium bodied. Wither Hills chardonnay has a big reputaton as does Stoneleigh Pinot Noir. I think the Stoneleigh Pinot does weird and wonderful things to Mel.. G |

G Thank for the info Goosegogs - when you have a Mo, please let this old buffer know where you buy the SB's that you liked so much. I think the Stoneleigh Pinot does weird and wonderful things to Mel.. How do you mean ? That she immediately takes off her clothes and dances around in her bra and panties Hey, that's a way of perking up the wine tasting in Stroud next month !!!!!!. I do like the feel in Stroud, a very nice town. |

I'm sorry, Duncan, you've let your Saturday night get the better of you. There is no wine that makes me dance semi naked. I have too much sensitivity for any potential audience to be so irresponsible. The Stoneleigh PN, however, is rather lovely, but a gentle groan is the nearest I'd get to anything weird or wonderful. Night |

The Reach is Tesco Extra as is the passion fruity rose. Sacred Hill 2006/2007 can also be bought at Tesco and Morrisons. The 06 is fading though and the 07 is very restrained and lacking in fruit. Montana Reserve is widely available. Saint Clair wines are hard to find, but, well worth seeking out. |

Thanks for that info, I had some Tesco Malborough 2007 SB (on the Tesco finest blue label) in the heavy burgundy style bottle. It was discounted down to £6.00 the other day, when I picked up that Nuits St Georges for £10 a bottle. The Misses really like it, we both thought, hmmn not bad, syrupy lychees predominated half way through the lenght, finish was quite clear and not too much acid and zing to anoy the tongue .... as some do. Yeah, we liked it |

Sorry Mel it was only 5:30 in the afternoon, So we'll have to put it down to my idle banter, a run-away imagination and poor taste. A gentle groan, Mel ! Hey, that's not a Faux Pas ? I never I heard that, or did I. Take care |
