Both parcels arrived at the winery in early evening, hand loaded to press and gently pressed to tank. Both parcels undertook natural/wild fermentations at moderate temperatures.
Oak/lees treatment: Immediately after pressing, 50% of the juice was transferred to barrel with the remaining 50% racked to a small stainless tank after 6 hours settling for fermentation.
The wine was partially fermented in older French oak barriques

Jackson Estate was founded in 1988 by John and Jo Stitchbury when they established the Homestead Vineyard. The famous gum tree that graces the Jackson Estate label was planted in 1867 by Alice Jackson. Today the tree stands over 140 feet tall. Jackson Estate's vineyards are all located in the Marlborough wine region. The soil profile is linked to the underlying minerality and intense herbaceous notes that makes the wine style so unique.

Intriguing smell. Like tropical fruit - heady, like a ripe mango, or over ripe apricots. Astonishingly inviting and atypical. In the mouth it's definitely bone dry but again has this strong tropical taste. Really interesting.
